A Message From Karen
Choosing an attorney is a very important and personal decision. You must feel comfortable with the attorney and confident that the attorney has the knowledge and skills to work with you to develop an estate plan that accurately reflects your wishes. Trust is important in an attorney-client relationship.
I want to share with you my background so that you have an understanding of how I approach the planning process and ensure that you are satisfied that you have received the best possible legal advice and information.
While I was not born in Cincinnati, I have lived most of my life here. After law school, I began my career with the largest law firm in Cincinnati at the time. I learned all aspects of tax law, estate planning, estate and trust administration, and small-business representation. I then moved to Cleveland to join a large regional law firm and was able to sharpen my skills in those areas while having the opportunity to meet directly with clients on a more personal level.
A career opportunity arose to work with a large national law firm with over 25 offices in the United States. I moved to Dallas and worked in the estate planning department. In addition to my work in the Dallas office, I often traveled to Washington, D.C., to assist attorneys in the estate planning and tax practice. I am proud to say that, during my career, I have learned from some of the best attorneys in the country.
I returned to Cincinnati after my dad died following a short battle with cancer. My mom and brothers, and their families, are in Cincinnati. Because of the importance of family in my life, there was no question that moving to Cincinnati was the right choice.
Upon my return, I worked for a midsize law firm in Cincinnati. While I enjoyed the work, I was not happy. I wanted to be able to spend time with clients getting to know them and letting them get to know me on a personal level. That is not possible when billable hours are required. So, I opened my own office and have never been happier.
I take the time to listen, and I take as much time as needed to work with clients to ensure that the plan we develop together reflects their wishes. My goal is not only to take the steps necessary to best represent the client but also to minimize the stressful and emotional impact the legal process has on the client.
